Most of this degradation occurs in the developing tropics of Africa, Latin America, and South and Southeast Asia where hundreds of millions of chronically hungry, smallholder farming families use destructive and short-sighted agricultural practices that further degrade their communities' trees, soil, water, and biodiversity, making them even more likely to migrate and more vulnerable to the climate changes that lie ahead.

As an environmental charity, they are on a mission to make it simple for anyone to help the environment by planting trees! One dollar, one tree. They are dedicated to making it easier for individuals and businesses to give back to the environment, create a healthier climate, protect biodiversity and help reforestation efforts around the world. All by planting trees! Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world's terrestrial biodiversity. They also provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines.

Starting in 2014, they have more than doubled the number of trees planted year after year. Fast-forward to today, they now work with awesome reforestation partners in North America, South America, Asia, and Africa who help us get trees in the ground to restore forests after fires and floods, create jobs, build communities, and protect habitats for biodiversity. In 2018, they were able to get more trees in the ground than ever before - 1.3 million!

They pool the donations for each project and send the funds to their reforestation partners. They vet their partners to ensure that they maintain a tree survival rate of 80-90%.

Depending on the project, their partners choose the best tree species to plant and work with local communities to get them in the ground. Planting typically happens in the rainy season when the soil is wet and provides optimal conditions for tree survival.

Once all the trees are in the ground, they send out a report highlighting the impact of your trees, which includes plenty of pictures of the newly planted section of forest, the tree species planted, expected survival rates, community engagement, and ecological benefits.
