Obsidian is a volcanic glass that originates from the rapid cooling of lavas rich in silica: the thermal shock prevents the formation of crystals and produces an amorphous and rigid mass, rich in inclusions of various minerals. Black in color and generally opaque, it can also take on a silver color (silver obsidian) if in the original magma are present finely distributed gas bubbles or a colorful and bright appearance if they are of water (rainbow obsidian). If in the process of formation of the rock are found gray feldspar, then it assumes a coloration with white and gray spots, the so-called snowflake obsidian.

Obsidian can be drained after use under running water. To obtain the best effects on the physical and spiritual level, it is advisable to carry the stone with you in close contact with the skin, in your pocket or on sore areas, but never around your neck. Attention: it should be used with caution by those who have a strong emotional charge and better if accompanied by a rock crystal.
