Make Your Own Cleaners Just Like Our Grannies Did
Share
Many household cleaners contain chemicals that are harmful to both human health and the environment. After use, these chemicals make their way into waterways, polluting and disrupting the balance of ecosystems, and the volatile organic compounds (VOC) found in many products impact both indoor and outdoor air quality.
Our grannies did not have such a choice of chemicals to clean our homes, we can use their simple and eco-friendly, plastic free and zero waste methods to protect our health, our environment and save money as well.
We can make a very efficient surface cleaner with white vinegar and leftover lemons. This acidic combo is perfect for tackling greasy countertops and wiping down bathroom surfaces: lemons are high in citric acid, which has strong antibacterial properties, and the acetic acid in vinegar helps break down grease - just avoid its use on natural stone and marble. Fill a large glass jar with white vinegar and lemon leftovers or pieces, then store it in the fridge for a week or two. Then remove the lemon pieces and strain the liquid through a cheesecloth. Mix equal parts of water with the lemon-vinegar solution in a spray bottle, and use liberally.
For a perfect clean home, use this home made cleaner with our reusable eco-friendly cleaning products: antibacterial bamboo paper towels, bamboo fiber cleaning towels, silicone magic gloves, and more kitchenware.
